Another Jesus, Another Spirit, Another Gospel

Paul feared that the Corinthians might be deceived as Eve was, being led away from the pure doctrine of Christ. He wrote, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him” (2 Corinthians 11:3–4).

Many today are preaching “another Jesus,” promoting “another spirit,” and proclaiming “another gospel”—each one different from what is found in God’s inspired Word. Sadly, multitudes are “bearing with them” (2 Corinthians 11:4). False teachers are preaching:

• Another Jesus – who allegedly accepts all lifestyles without requiring repentance or change, who never rebukes sin, and who never says, “Go, and sin no more” (Matthew 4:17; 23:13-33; John 8:11; Revelation 3:19).

• Another Jesus – who allegedly saves those who merely believe, without faithful obedience (John 8:30–44; 12:42–43; Acts 2:36–38; 1 John 1:6–2:6; James 1:12; Revelation 2:10).

• Another Jesus – who allegedly built hundreds of differing denominations, when the Bible says He built only one church (Matthew 16:18; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:4; 5:23).

• Another Jesus – who is supposedly returning in secret to rapture the saints and give the wicked a “second chance,” although the Bible says His return will be visible, audible, and final, bringing judgment (John 5:27–29; 6:40; 11:24; 12:48; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–5:3; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9).

• Another spirit – who allegedly still empowers people to work miracles, yet only “miracles” that are easily faked or unverifiable (1 Corinthians 13:8–12; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; Revelation 2:2).

• Another spirit – who allegedly speaks apart from (and contrary to) the written Word (Isaiah 8:20; Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:15–17).

• Another spirit – a spirit of confusion and division, not unity in Truth (Romans 16:16–17; 1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 14:33; Ephesians 4:3-6).

• Another gospel – teaching that sincerity is sufficient, even when one is sincerely wrong (Proverbs 14:12; Matthew 7:21–23; Acts 23:1; 26:9–11; 2 Timothy 2:15-18).

• Another gospel – teaching salvation by “grace alone” through “faith alone,” contradicting both the word “alone” and the Bible itself (James 2:14–26; Hebrews 5:9; 1 Peter 1:22; 3:20–21).

• Another gospel – claiming men can be saved by “praying a prayer to ask Jesus into their hearts,” although no such prayer is found in the Bible (Proverbs 28:9; John 9:31; 1 Peter 3:12).

• Another gospel – denying the necessity of water baptism for salvation, even though Peter plainly said, “baptism doth also now save us” (1 Peter 3:20–21; cf. Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:11-13).

Friends, do not be deceived like Eve, being led away from the plain and simple Truth. Search the Scriptures diligently to make sure you have not embraced a corrupted gospel (Acts 17:11; Galatians 1:6–9; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 John 4:1). Your soul depends on it!
